Christian Rockers PFR Return For Good After Four YearsFeb
2, 2001, 10:30 am PT Christian rock favorite PFR has reunited after disbanding four years ago, with a new record deal with Squint Entertainment, home to one of the genre's greatest crossover successes, Sixpence None the Richer. The group is in the midst of working on its Squint debut with producer Jimmie Lee Sloas once again. The not-yet-titled album is due this June, and there's no word on touring plans yet. PFR, which stands for Pray for Rain, debuted in 1992 with the album Pray for Rain on Sparrow, which earned the band a Grammy nomination and a Dove Award for Rock Album of the Year. The group returned in 2000 with a single, "Kingdom Come," on Squint's compilation concept album, Roaring Lambs, which also features Jars of Clay (which got its start opening for PFR), Sixpence, Michael W. Smith, and others. On
inking its new deal, the band says in a statement
released Friday (Feb. 2): "We are excited and
honored to be working with Squint and are thankful for
the creative freedom afforded us in the recording process.
Additionally, Joel [Hanson, guitarist] is thankful for
his newfound personal freedom due largely to that nice
letter Steve Taylor wrote to his parole officer. Viva La
Squint!" -- Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna ALL CREDITS / COPYRIGHTS - CDNOW.COM |
